Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved to draw. She would sit for hours upon hours with her crayons and paper, getting lost in the joy she felt from creating art. Her father would sometimes become upset with her, telling her she should go outside more and play with other children. But she was happy right where she was.

When it was time for her to decide what to do with her life after high school, she went to her mom and asked her, “What should I do? I don’t know what I want to “be” forever and ever.” Her mom told her that she should go to secretarial school. That this would be a practical choice for her. So, she went. And she worked as a secretary for a couple of years.

But the creativity inside of her wouldn’t stop showing itself. It never did. So she listened to it and followed it, and it brought her to attend Syracuse University, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Surface Pattern Design. When she graduated, she held her diploma in one hand, and her two month old baby in her other. Both so precious to her.

The next few decades found this now grown up girl raising five children of her own and all the work and joy involved in being with them full time. Her creativity was always there with her, burning away, and finding whatever outlet it could. Finally, one day, she decided that she would learn how to create patterns on the computer, for when she went to college many years ago, everything was done by hand. This was a huge learning curve for her, but she was determined, and after a couple of years, she’s come to the place she is today.

I am honored to share with you this story. It’s my story, but probably one that resonates with other creatives such as myself. I hope you enjoy looking through my work and feeling a bit of the passion and joy I’ve put into each and every piece here.

XOXOX
